The Olive Pit

Corning, California
Not known for corn...
but for its OLIVES!
I would venture to say that EVERY tree in this city is an olive tree.
Even in the campgrounds and trailor parks -- yes, olive trees.
Here are some baby olives!
And so many olives to try...

Some were really good!
Others... well, I think they're an acquired taste.

'Park' It Here...

We went to a fun kids' park.
In the summer it's a little water park.
Even though the water park hadn't officially started yet,
they had some water features going.
In the summer, this mountain the kids climbed on would erupt with water every 30 mins!
Pretty cool!

The playground was extra good for Porter!
(He's wearing his eyepatch here.)

Sundial Bridge

"The Sundial Bridge"
of Redding, California

(don't forget it's art -- you have to turn your head to the side and squint to see it correctly.)

Birds, Birds Everywhere

Canadian Goose
(and yes, I took this picture)
a few birds here...
pigeons here and there...
a few more...
whoa! Where'd they all come from?!
Gma Debi took us to the popular place to feed birds!
Boy, were there lots of birds!
And the kids had a blast.
Porter would feed the birds by pelting them with the pieces of bread.
Good aim, buddy!

Myanna was scared of the birds... until she realized that she was bigger than them...
and had to prove it to the birds.

Fresh Cali Strawberries

One of the best things about Cali...
fresh strawberry stands!
Strawberry fields forever...
don't those just look delicious?!
Fresh picked that morning.
goes great with ice cream

Gma Debi, Satomi, ... & Lulu

We finally got to Redding!
And see Satomi and Gma Debi again!
Lulu (the cat) was a favorite too!

Here's Gma Debi's work!
the girls decided to reorganize and decorate Gma's desk.

Just Grapes & Sunshine

When Jenn was a little girl, she got to go through a tour of the raisin factory.
Where they don't do the tours anymore...
...we watched a video on how raisins are made and what they do in the factory.
Came with a free box of raisins for everyone and we bought some books to read later!

P.S. Pictures are by the biggest raisin box in the world.
