Day Three

So, last night they finished that crazy green board
(only to tell us the next morning that more had to be fixed).

BUT, we finally got to move on to the rim board.
Sweet, sweet progress...
Below:
Pregnant Abby working hard!
(That baby's gonna come out holding a hammer!)
Our Lot - yes, OURS!!! - getting back filled!
YESSS!
Lumber drop!
(Literally)
Muddy again today.
Here's a view from our street -
our mountains are higher than the clouds!!
(M R MOUNTAINS!!!)
Our lumber drop seems to have seen some of the snow that fell last night!
Luckily our daytime shifts have not had any at all!
(Thank you!!!)
Not only rim board, but floor joists, TOO!!
Soooooo nice to finally see some progress on our part!!
Bad (and good news) -- we're going to do the green board on all 6 houses.
At least we've made all the the mistakes that can be made on the first one --
hopefully the next 5 go much smoother.

First Ever Breakfast Birthday Party

With Dane and I both having to work on Debany's birthday,
the only time we had to celebrate was in the morning - at breakfast.
So we surprised her with her actual birthday party!!!
The only thing she asked for was a ladybug pillowpet...
(it was the last one in the store!)
(okay, and a pony cake with light, light pink frosting - don't forget ice cream!!)
p.s. That's an ice cream cake! Another extra special bonus!
Happy 7th, you special kid, you.

Second Day

Day 2
Lot 2: cemented & lumber drop!
Lot 3: cemented!
Still working on Lot 1... pfffbbfffbbb
(above - cement distributer)

gorgeous mountains in the background.
see all those clouds? Keep readin'...

(below - backhoe on a big hill)
mooooore green plate...
"No more green plate!!!"
Yes... that's snow.
(And even staying for another hour, we still didn't get the stinkin' green plate done! Dane called home after tonight proclaiming that it is FINALLY done! An answer to my prayers... Now we can move on to the rim board and flooring.)

31 year olds only!!!

How do you celebrate a 31st birthday?
With 31 flavors, of course!!!

It can only happen once in a lifetime...
So after a trip to Baskin Robbins, we picked a particular flavor to reminisce on our 31 years of flavah...

Dane picked a coconut ice cream with nuts in it
(reminiscing of the years in Hawaii - he misses haupia ice cream)

(And since Jenn is still 31, she decided to celebrate with her favorite pumpkin ice cream.)
Reminiscing of how cold it is in October when we carve pumpkins - and how we shouldn't be eating ice cream this time of year... :)

First Night

Well, as I was getting ready to leave, my car was dead.
So I took that opportunity to take a quick nap and rejuvenate for tonight...
(which I wasn't planning on exactly.)
Above, Heidi was the bravest of us all. Here she is on her knees blasting nails to secure 2x4's into cement with basically a 22 shell blast -- with nothing under her but cement 10 feet down below!!!

The basement crew getting to work on putting up the stairs and support wall.
Dane & I work more on the green board.
(Ran into a few snags..)

First Day

Anne, Kassie, and I got to work the first morning...
Green plate to start
(and cutting the stairsteps)
A whole lot of backfilling going on...

Mud... Bring it On...

Sunday night, we decided to check out the site for the early morning tomorrow...
Rain, rain, rain all day brought us --

Nothing but MUD.
(Believe me, it was much worse the next morning.
I nearly lost my rain boots twice!!

Welcome to construction in the winter...
yeeeaaahhh -- sigh.

Homes as of October 17th...

Lot 1
Lot 3
Lot 2
Lot 2
Isn't he so CUTE!!
Did I mention that he LOVES trucks?!
Lot 4 (and some Lot 5)
Here it is! Cement walls are up!
(You'd think that I'd learn not to wear sandals after all the times we've been out here!)
Remember how we have a 'happy' home?...
Well, we found this today!
That's one big horseshoe!
(Evidently, we have a 'happy, go lucky' home!)
---insert laughter here---
These walls are going to be filled in soon enough!
Love this picture perspective!
Look closely to see Myanna above our boys -- another fun perspective.
She's on the hill on the other side.
Debany and the 'ravine'...

In our basement
No plumbing yet, no cement floor, but more than the last time we were there...
Our cold storage! WHooo-hooo!
(except the put it in the wrong spot -- it was supposed to go over to the right of this picture.)
ergh.
Porter's wanting to be part of...
(I found this, Momma! Can I take it home with me?!)
It wouldn't be complete without a dusty trip up the mountain...
Our lava flow...
Well, that does it for now...
back to the van.
Hopefully we'll start working on the houses this week...
otherwise Monday is the day.

Pre-Construction Party

Anyone want to get together?!
Bring your family
and some food to share...
to Lehi!
Tons of fun!
The kids hit it off great!
Don't forget the games!!
Not a complete party without Bocce Ball...
(watch out kids!)
Porter's new bud, Emerson!
Way excited for our little neighborhood to get underway!
