Basement View

All done on top...
Isn't that basement pretty?!
Look, stairs!!
I know this isn't OUR house, but it's still fun to see the first one go up -- and well, this is still work from my hands (and many, many others.)

Monday - Sheeting

Starting sheeting on the first house.
Lay down the glue...

Lay down the board. Nail in down.

The last pieces look like it was specially made in Utah...
"Here's the kitchen" --
we can actually walk on the floor we'll be
walking on everyday until... well, we die or move.

Sunday Trip to the Site

Sunday, we brought the kids up to see what we'd been working on...

Porter size!
"The Claaaawww"

(ahhh! It's going to get us!!)

Kids enjoying the BIG toys!!
Lot 2 started...
support wall
Jenn did the joint spacers
(yes, they're supposed to alternate sides.)
Isn't that pretty?
House 1
We'll start sheeting tomorrow
(monday)

Trunk or Treat 2010

Some of our favorites!!

Mad scientist trunk...

Our favorite family costumes!!!
Frog prince family
(sorry about the pictures -- ergh.)

Peter Pan and the Pirates
Dane - the tourist
(headed for Hawaii, but got lost in the Utah snow)
Debany and her friend
(Debany was the Hula girl on Dane's tour)
Jen - the injured tour guide on safari
hunting leopards and lions...

First Saturday

Look at that basement!!
You go guys...

Joists, joists, joists...
Organizing trusses already...
Working late into the night...
Know you no rest?!

Flooring is going in above the basement!
(I flipped this picture down below to be right side up...
c'mon pics...)
We worked a TON,
but the rain, rain, rain came down, down, down...
and we decided it was safer...
(to call it quits).
(... but the birds thought differently!!)
get those worms! ATTACK!!!

Day Three

So, last night they finished that crazy green board
(only to tell us the next morning that more had to be fixed).

BUT, we finally got to move on to the rim board.
Sweet, sweet progress...
Below:
Pregnant Abby working hard!
(That baby's gonna come out holding a hammer!)
Our Lot - yes, OURS!!! - getting back filled!
YESSS!
Lumber drop!
(Literally)
Muddy again today.
Here's a view from our street -
our mountains are higher than the clouds!!
(M R MOUNTAINS!!!)
Our lumber drop seems to have seen some of the snow that fell last night!
Luckily our daytime shifts have not had any at all!
(Thank you!!!)
Not only rim board, but floor joists, TOO!!
Soooooo nice to finally see some progress on our part!!
Bad (and good news) -- we're going to do the green board on all 6 houses.
At least we've made all the the mistakes that can be made on the first one --
hopefully the next 5 go much smoother.

First Ever Breakfast Birthday Party

With Dane and I both having to work on Debany's birthday,
the only time we had to celebrate was in the morning - at breakfast.
So we surprised her with her actual birthday party!!!
The only thing she asked for was a ladybug pillowpet...
(it was the last one in the store!)
(okay, and a pony cake with light, light pink frosting - don't forget ice cream!!)
p.s. That's an ice cream cake! Another extra special bonus!
Happy 7th, you special kid, you.
