Freecycle is a yahoo group where you can post or read posts of things people what to get rid of. Only catch - it's 100% free. I have a yahoo email specifically just for it because we get LOTS of posts every day. It is everywhere! And if for some reason there isn't one close enough, you can start one!
Craigslist, same idea, but not always free. BUT great bargains.

Hey Jenn, yeah I've known about those for a few years. We got the boys bunkbeds on freecycle! And we've gotten rid of our tropical fish and a vacuum cleaner as well. It's really neat.
