We live in an 'old' house...
Where wiring and surprises keep popping up around the corner!
Our latest adventure in old-housery ---
running extension cords from upstairs in our hallway across the house and out to the garage so that we can wash clothes, keep pipes from freezing, and keeping the food in our deep freeze from going bad....
not to mention, uh hem...
More extension cords spread from the kitchen to the living room to plug in the internet so that at least Dane will have internet access on his laptop, since there wasn't enough extension cord plugs to get to my computer.
Yeah! $$$ later...
we now have had a certified electrician verify that we live in an 'old' house
(no surprise here... har har har.)
and that my computer is finally up and running!
p.s. --- I'm so glad this isn't our house!
It's not our bill. We just hope it doesn't funnel to our rent. :/
Especially since we figured out that the previous owner was inventive on where they put and 'extra' power box.

That is definately not fun, but seriously it really is nice that you don't own the place so you don't have to foot the repair bills.
By the way, I see that your hometown is listed as Visalia, I figure it's a pretty big place, but my sister in law just married a boy from Visalia...
In our last place in Provo, the house was close to 100 years old. It even had a bricked up coal shoot for a broiler in the basement. We didn't have to pay electricity or gas (the gas bill would get around $600 during the winter, and that was back in 2006/2007 winter).
